Wild About Wildlife July Sessions

To continue the success of the Wild About Wildlife virtual summer camp that launched in June, Manatee Lagoon, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS), and Zoo Miami will partner to host virtual camp sessions through July. Geared toward campers ages six to nine, the sessions are designed to provide a fun virtual experience for children to stay connected to their peers and learning through the summer. Registration for the weekly sessions is free with a voluntary donation to support the organizations’ conservational and educational missions.

The virtual summer camp will feature half-day morning schedules filled with animal observations, experiments, games, crafts, and lessons hosted by educators from the organizations. Lessons will include a variety of pre-recorded and live sessions, as well as supplemental at-home activities and printable worksheets. “We are excited to be able to offer the community this unique, virtual experience,” said Sarah Marmion, manager of Manatee Lagoon. “While our center remains closed until further notice, our hope is that this virtual program keeps curious minds engaged and learning about the environment during these unprecedented times.” The organizations’ shared goal in creating the weekly virtual summer camp program is to provide an engaging experience for children, connect them to the people and the wildlife around them, and to keep them learning all summer long. Helping parents that are working from home is an added bonus.
