The Museum of Discovery and Science will be hosting Moonlight Turtle Walks on Fort Lauderdale Beach throughout June, July, and August.

The Turtle Walk adventures will begin at the museum with a Turtle Talk by staff about sea turtles and conservation. Guests will then travel to Fort Lauderdale Beach, where a museum expert guide will scout sea turtle nests.

Guests should be prepared to walk approximately one to two miles in the sand and provide their own transportation, rain gear, and snacks. Participants must be 9 years old or older.

From spring to early fall, female sea turtles embark on an annual pilgrimage to the same beach where they were born to build nests and lay eggs at night and then return to the ocean.

Tours date are available on June 20, 21, 23, 28 and 30 (June 7, 8, 14, and 16 are sold out); July 5, 6, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28; and August 2 and 4. All tours begin at 8 p.m. and run through 1 a.m. Space for these events is limited and pre-registration is required. The price for museum members is $19, and $21 for non-members.
