Guide to Tarpon River Entertainment & Design District

Get to know the neighborhood through these local gems that have already garnered a loyal following and learn what's on the way

While north Fort Lauderdale has been gaining traction, TREDD, the Tarpon River Entertainment & Design District, is the next neighborhood heating up. This burgeoning area is at the forefront of development, and its footprint covers SW Fourth Avenue to the railroad tracks on SW Second Avenue and the New River to SW Seventh Street. “South of the New River has not received the same attention as other parts of Fort Lauderdale’s downtown,” says Stephanie Toothaker, President of Tarpon River Entertainment and Design District. “I think the TREDD initiative will fuel a very special kind of live, work, play atmospherics that will appeal to locals and people looking to invest here, move here, and be part of something special.” Here, we highlight what’s on the way and a few gems that have already garnered a loyal following.

The Wine Shop FTL

Born out of their love of vino, Holly and Michael Winter are opening The Wine Shop FTL this winter, focusing on Italian, French, and American wines. “Curated from celebrated wine regions, The Wine Shop Fort Lauderdale will act as a wine showroom and offer a selection that has been hand-picked for its composition and ability to transport you to another place through a bottle,” says Holly.

RIVR Lofts

An up-and-coming neighborhood needs a place for locals to call home, and Moderno Development is creating just that with RIVR Lofts. The 29-story building will boast 352 units when it opens in Winter 2023. Among the highlights are an urban industrial design “unlike typical rental offerings in the area,” shares managing partner Doron Broman. As part of the company’s dedication to the area, Moderno Development is donating a plot of land that will be home to a community dog park.

The Fitz Bar and Lounge

Created under the philosophy that “good drinks and warm service are the recipe for great times,” local John Fitzgerald is welcoming visitors to explore The Fitz Bar and Lounge. The sophisticated urban lounge offers a signature cocktail menu, specialty food truck pairings on rotation, and local musical performances.
