Gulfstream Park’s championship season continues March 4 with Fountain of Youth Day, a day of racing, entertainment, and dining.

The $400,000 Fountain of Youth, first run in 1945, is a major prep race for the $1 million Florida Derby on April 1, as well as the Triple Crown of horse racing: the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont. In fact, past participants in the Fountain of Youth have included Kentucky Derby winners Spectacular Bid, Unbridled, Forty Niner, Thunder Gulch, Orb, and Carry Back.
The Fountain of Youth is expected to feature this year’s early Florida and Kentucky Derby favorite, Forte, who will make his first start since winning the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in November. The Fountain of Youth isn’t the only major race run on Fountain of Youth Day. The afternoon will include nine stakes races, with total purses on the day of approximately $2 million. Thoroughbred racing is only part of the excitement at Gulfstream Park. The Carousel Club is Gulfstream’s latest edition, a beautifully designed open-air gathering spot for cocktails, eats, and entertainment. This 14,000-square-foot tented and open-air space features a spacious deck overlooking the racetrack, a covered Carousel Bar, grassy garden for lounging, and lawn games.

Returning to Gulfstream Park is celebrated jazz man Brian Newman, the bandleader for Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s Cheek to Cheek album and tour, as well as Lady Gaga’s Jazz & Piano show during her Las Vegas residency. Newman’s own Vegas residency takes place at the Nomad Library for “Brian Newman: After Dark,” where Old Vegas vibes never sleep.

Newman is heralded for bringing the Great American Songbook to another level, where influences of Gershwin and Porter find room with modern songbook with his love of bands like Nirvana, Willie Nelson, and The Police.
On Fountain of Youth Day, the Carousel Club, featuring Brian Newman, will be open from noon to 3 a.m. and will celebrate with half-priced Mojito pitchers from noon until 4 p.m. For more information and reservations about Carousel Club visit, click here.
