Fort Lauderdale’s Bonnet House Museum & Gardens will once again offer its VIP Upstairs/Downstairs Tours of the main house on the grounds of the whimsical 35-acre subtropical estate. These small group tours include a sneak peak of home’s private spaces, including areas of Evelyn and Frederic Bartlett’s private living quarters and exclusive entrance to rooms that have not been seen on other Bonnet House tours.
The Upstairs/Downstairs Tours will be led by seasoned Bonnet House docents from 2-4 p.m. on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month beginning on January 12 through April 2022. The tours will be offered in groups of 10 to allow for questions and discussion and cost $40 per person. Limited reservations are available and pre-registration is required. The ability to climb stairs is necessary to fully participate in these tours.
The 100-year-old Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is a fanciful blend of art, architecture, history, and ecology, providing a charming destination for visitors of all ages. The estate, historic house, and museum preserve the natural setting of South Florida, situated on what is one of the last examples of a native barrier island habitat in the region. At Bonnet House, visitors can experience what life was like on a beachfront estate in the 1930s and 40s. The Bonnet House offers exciting newly designed self-guided tours in addition to guided tours, programs, events, workshops, and classes.
