Coinciding with the annual National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Family Health & Fitness Day, Elevate promotes the importance of parks and recreation in keeping communities active, healthy, and connected. The event and activities will focus on five pillars of health: mental health, physical health, spiritual health, financial health, and sustainability for a healthy planet.
Activities include sample group fitness classes for children, teens, and adults; health, wellness, and pet care vendors; health screenings, healthy food options, educational demonstrations, age-appropriate games and activities, prizes, giveaways, and more.
DJ Purple Sun Radio will be on-site to bring feel-good music all day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests of all ages will have a blast playing P.E. X-Games. Stop by for a Soca Bounce Fitness Demonstration from 10:20 to 10:25 a.m. for a fun, high energy, and low impact interval training workout. Chair Yoga for active adults with Carolina Figares kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
From 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., guests can stop by for a consultation with DEI activist, health disparity advocate, and holistic lifestyle consultant Latanya Hopson. Throughout the event, WE Florida Financial Credit Union will host children’s money management, book reading and games, and a teens financial literacy app; LensCrafters will host eye exams, activities for children, and contests; and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue will host CPR classes for all ages.
OneBlood will be on-site offering guests an opportunity to make a difference with a blood donation. OneBlood is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community asset responsible for providing safe, available, and affordable blood to more than 200 hospital partners and their patients.
Healthy food vendors include Fresh Organics & More, ItalKing Coconut Water, My Hot Vegan, and The Juice Somm.
The event is free and open to the public, with 100 percent of the event proceeds supporting active and passive programming related to public health classes, and additional services to create a welcoming year-round gathering space.
