Lauderdale is fully embracing its Mexican cuisine kick, and we’re not complaining. Farther north in the heart of Wilton Manors lies the newest south-of-the-border outpost specializing in chips, guac, tacos, and margs. Tulio’s Tacos & Tequila is a spunky, youthful concept developed by longtime friends Brian Parenteau, Doug Herbst, and El Salvador native chef Tulio Alas, for whom the restaurant is named. Take a seat in the indoor living room, with interiors awash in vibrant murals and artwork from an array of local artists, or relax on the expansive patio and nosh on chips and salsa or the ceviche rojo, with heaping bites of marinated shrimp and grouper presented in a massive schooner glass. The crispy grouper tacos and chicken burrito are equally delicious when paired with the Shirtless Margarita, which is bursting with flavors of muddled serrano, spicy honey, lime, and Hawaiian chili sea salt.
