Situated along the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale stands tall Mastro’s Ocean Club, a luxury restaurant with decadent dishes led by executive chef Chi Chan. While the interior sports a grey-and-black theme accented by red LED lighting, large windows provide bright, tranquil views of the waterway and patio seating.

The restaurant is revered for its fish and steak selections, so opt to start with an appetizer of crab or shrimp. The sautéed sea scallops, with their smoky exterior and soft, supple interior, pair nicely with the Parmesan and tomatoes. At the bar, the restaurant’s new Luxury Hour (Sunday to Thursday) offers a tempting treat of $1 oysters on the half-shell, among other bites. For a dramatic flair, the 2-foot-tall seafood tower filled with fresh, chilled shellfish overflows with smoke as warm water is poured over dry ice.

Signature Smoking Cosmo

Along with appetizers come the drinks, and the Luxury Hour offers concoctions such as Frosé All Day with Rocca Sveva Rosé, Bacardi Grapefruit Rum, Perricone Lemonade, and a splash of Monin Peach Pureé served frozen in a wine glass with a slice of grapefruit and mint.

There’s also the Rosa Margarita featuring Código 1530 Rosa Tequila, triple sec, and a splash of Go-Go juice (a mix of fresh lemon, lime, and pink grapefruit juice) served over ice with a sea salt rim and grapefruit garnish.

After sipping cocktails and watching yachts drift by, entrees are in order. For true decadence, Mastro’s offers wagyu and other exclusive meats carved tableside—an experience that’s hard to pass up. The center-cut filet is cooked to order with a crisp char and melt-in-your-mouth insides.

Flaky fillets of fish are bountiful as well, including bass, grouper, swordfish, and salmon. Pair them with succulent and savory lobster mashed potatoes and crispy roasted brussels sprouts, which are brought out in a cast-iron skillet.

Save room for dessert to indulge in the must-have Signature Warm Butter Cake. Topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, the soft and scrumptious cake warms the mouth and soul.
