Every so often, a unique dining concept comes along and makes you question how you could have gone so long without it. Such is the case with TRP Taste in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Somewhat of a hidden gem for many, the intimate 26-seat venue (located under Rooftop at WLO) by The Restaurant People centers on a rotating, ever-evolving schedule of multicourse culinary experiences. Guests can take part in a pop-up dinner with wine pairings or rent out the whole TRP Taste space for a special event. Inside awaits a wraparound counter for 12, where you can watch and converse with local and visiting chefs as they pre- pare dishes one by one. There’s also a communal table, welcoming a convivial atmosphere. Events have ranged from a “Tour of Asia” to “Summer in the South.” During a past visit, chefs whipped up a trio of ocean crisps (think: shrimp toast, salmon belly tacos, and tuna tartar) as well as butter-poached king crab leg, Chilean sea bass with miso cauliflower, and a delicate ube cheesecake with coconut Chantilly cream and macadamia brittle.
