In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, organizations across South Florida have been working to alleviate food insecurity in local communities. The Albert Wilson Foundation, an organization founded by Miami Dolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson dedicated to enriching the lives of children in foster care, partnered with rap artist Jackboy to donate more than 2,500 meals to students and families across Broward County on Tuesday, September 1.

Jackboy, who grew up in Pompano Beach, purchased 80 lunches and 2,500 meal vouchers from Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant to distribute to students and families. The lunches were delivered to Eagles’ Nest Middle School in Lauderhill for parents to pick up in a socially-distanced, drive-through method on school grounds. The remaining 2,500 meal vouchers will benefit the foundation’s families and children in foster or a guardian’s care associated with the child dependency system. The partnership also included funding to help the foundation launch its youth mentorship program for the children it serves in early 2021.

Through the partnership, Jackboy donated $10,000 to benefit children, families, and local businesses in Broward County. The Albert Wilson Foundation is on a mission to enrich the lives of children in foster care and raise awareness about social justice and racial inequality issues impacting those in the foster care system.
