Say hello to an upgraded way of pampering with a visit to Floreana. Designed to be a home away from home, the nail salon offers clean beauty choices that are ethical, environmentally friendly, and safe. After returning to Fort Lauderdale following stints in New York and New Jersey, owner Valentina Lara sensed a void for such a concept in the area’s beauty market.
“We don’t have to sacrifice health for beauty,” says the self-proclaimed “mompreneur” who often had an intolerance to breathing in standard nail salon chemicals, especially when pregnant. The salon is inspired by her roots in Ecuador—Floreana is the name of an island in the Galápagos—but also incorporates a South Florida feel visible in the decor’s use of blush tones, natural textures, and greenery.
Future spa-goers can opt for luxe treatments that use 10-free nail polish, meaning polish that contains 10 or fewer toxins typically found in standard salons. Each station is also equipped with an independent exhaust system that purifies the air, ensuring a safe space for all. Floreana’s spa menu ranges from nontoxic standard manis and pedis that accompany minimalistic nail art to The Floreana, a signature treatment involving a rose Himalayan soak, an organic exfoliating scrub, and a detoxifying mud mask.
