Even in times of uncertainty and social distancing, art reminds us that there is strength (and enriching distraction) to be found in creativity. ArtServe, the Fort Lauderdale-based nonprofit art incubator, is hosting a series of virtual events in April and May to connect the arts community and its supporters, even from a distance.
“The bright light in this crisis is being able to share our artists’ message of diversity, equality and inclusion through these virtual channels, here and abroad,” ArtServe Executive Director Craig Johnson explained. “The beauty of art is that it frees your mind to soar beyond conventional boundaries like the four walls surrounding us as we shelter in place. That can become a very frustrating experience and we are here to help with that.”
Audiences can connect to virtual events like “Meditation Mondays,” “Paint & Chat” discussions with artists, and Virtual Reality Art Workshops, and find updates on Facebook, Facebook Live, Zoom, and Instagram (@artservefla).
