Stranahan House is the oldest and most historically significant structure in Broward County. Frank and Ivy Stranahan are credited as the founding family of Fort Lauderdale through their civic activism and philanthropy. The museum’s mission is to tell the story of the birth of the community through the lives of two extraordinary people and the homestead they created, and to serve as an enduring legacy for historic preservation. Stranahan House welcomes 30,000 visitors annually and serves as a museum, education center, event venue and community gathering place.
